Look how far we come

Dave and I were talking about all the health problems Shorty has had these past 14 months. They have been a challenge. However, we feel so blessed to have such a great son.

During some discussion with doctors, we realized how lucky we were to have him, and to be thriving has well as he is. We are grateful for the modern medicine that has helped our son.

Shorty, is one of the happiest babies I have ever seen. He is most of the time smiling, getting into trouble despite all of his health problems. Most of the time you do not realize he has health issues and you can not tell by looking at him.

He is now 14 months old and during the first several months of life we did not even think we would get this far sometimes.

I posted some pictures that were taken over this past 14 months. He is the love of our life. We are so happy to have him as part of our family.

We hope this next 14 months will be filled with laughter, smiles. We are praying for no additional health problems, just the normal teething, and shots.

Aunt Theresa's Visit

My sister, Theresa, has been in town since the 10th, to help me with Brandon. She had a lot of fun with him, and at times he was his charming self. Unfortunately, he was sick for most of it, but he is always sick so nothing new there. Here are some pictures of Brandon and Aunt Theresa. Thank you Theresa for coming out.

Back on Elecare

Well this week as been stressful, good thing my sister is here to help. Brandon got sick, so we brought him to the doctor and it turns out he has several GI things. Unfortunately, one is including the milk protein allergy, so the doctor wants him back on Elecare and no dairy. Another thing is he also has a very red throat with some white puss.
He has been very cranky, so we are glad to have some answers. Dave is taking next week home to help with Brandon, the doctor recommended for him not to be around other children until things settle down. We are glad that Dave's job is so understanding.
Brandon has had his happy moments as well, when his stomach is not cramping. He has been giving his Aunt Theresa a run for her money.

I will post some new pictures of Aunt Theresa visit, in a few days....

Maggie's Surgery

Maggie has surgery on July 28 to fuse C3-4 that she injured in 2003. The surgery went well and the doctor said that the rest of her spine looks great, actually like a teenagers spine.
She was released on Thursday evening from the hospital. She was excited to get home to be with Shorty. This is the longest she has been away from him.
The recovery is a long process, it will be at least until Aug 27 before she is allowed to lift anything heavier than a milk jug, drive or do much of anything. Hopefully on the 27th the doctor will allow her to start doing more. It is a lot more painful than she expected. They also did a sternum bone graft, so they broke a small piece off and used it where the disc use to be.
My mom was here last week. It was so nice to have the help and, Maggie's sister, Theresa, is coming on Sunday for a week. We are looking forward on spending time with her and having her get to know Shorty. She will never want to come back, after a week with Brandon. Stay tuned for stories and pictures.
During the off week our church is helping us by bring us some dinners. We have such great friends and are grateful for our church.

We will post some pictures of Maggie's surgery later....

He keeps talking

Update on Shorty's teeth/diet

Shorty now has 9 teeth. The latest one is the bottom left K-9 or I tooth, not sure what they are called. I believe he is the cutest boy in the world.
Shorty has officially passed the milk challenge, which means we can wean from the elecare. That will save us a lot of money each month.
